PHALLEPHORIA
An auspicious feast in honor of Dionysus, a sacred Bacchic ceremony for the supremacy of Spring over Winter and the rebirth of Nature.
The Phalliforia, inextricably linked to the worship of the god Dionysus and spread throughout the geographical territory of Hellenism in antiquity, branching their roots to the present day, gave substance to our well-being, our wish, to bloom the children of mother Gaia and of our soul.
The forerunner of today's carnival traditional events, the gossip was the beginning of comedy. Aristotle in his book "On Poetry" states that the comedy came from the "exiting the phallic", that is, those who in the phallic songs began and followed by answering or repeating (Aristotle On Poetry 1449a, verses 9-15) :
The revival of the primordial fertility ceremony of Phallephoria, took place after many years of study by the researcher Parmenidis Ioannis Bousiou, in collaboration with the operative troupe "Dionysos Elefthereus" and the art and dance group "Atrapos", with choreographer Arsinoe Lilly Karadima. The amazing masks that revive experimental archeology were created by the sculptor and painter Exikias Trivoulidis.
A cultural event, open to all who seek true memories and roots. Every year, for 6 consecutive years, in the historic center of Athens.
